Canadian passport gains strength, surpasses US in global ranking.

The 2024 Henley Passport Index ranks the Canadian passport at #7, up from #8 last year, surpassing the U.S., which dropped to #8. This marks the first time in years that Canada has outranked the U.S. on the index. Canadian passport holders can now visit 187 countries without a visa, up from 185. Some countries still require visas or e-visas, including Algeria, China, Cameroon, and Vietnam.
Singapore holds the top spot, with France, Japan, Italy, Spain, and Germany in second place. Seven countries share third place, while Belgium, Denmark, New Zealand, Norway, Switzerland, and the U.K. share fourth.
While the Canadian passport may not be in the top five, it still offers robust global mobility. This is in stark contrast to the lowest-ranking passports, which face complex visa processes that can be a significant barrier to travel. There have been concerns raised about potential U.S. immigration policies under a second Trump administration, which could lead to mass deportations.
